WORLD WAR II HISTORY RESIDES IN WEST SCRANTON

Scranton School Board President & former educator/Principal, Barbara Dixon, spent time in our 5th grade class educating students of Nazi Germany & Adolf Hitler’s invasion of Tczinana, Poland. Mrs. Dixon’s mother, Helen Jachimczak-Zalinski, a West Scranton resident, had her family farm taken over by Nazi troops. The lesson, “Through her Father’s Eyes” discussed how Helen’s father would communicate with his children by using his eyes after her brother was injected with lethal poison by Hitler’s troops. This powerful story had 5th grade students at the edge of their seats & added a personal touch to World War 2 & Adolf Hitler, knowing a current resident of our city endured the misery of this piece of history. Thank you Mrs. Dixon & proud to say our Kennedy Cadets know Helen

Take Your Child To Work Day

Thank you to our special guests for coming to spend the day with us. A special thank you to the staff who helped make Take Your Child to Work Day 2019 a success!

Measuring Up!

The second grade classes took advantage of the nice weather and took their measuring math lesson to the playground. They measured their jumps in centimeters and inches.

Thank You SLHDA!

Thank you to Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency Head Start Program for donating hundreds of books to the families of Kennedy Elementary. Reading books aloud to children stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. 📖📚❤️🧐

Jack of Hearts

Kennedy Elementary partnered with Jack of Hearts Inc. in gathering donations for the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton. Students & staff donated items to fulfill need at this local caring organization that keeps families & their children close during medical need. Jack of Hearts continues to pay it forward with grace in observance of their “heart-warming” success story. ❤️
